Vietnamese consumers remain largely optimistic about their financial future in 2025, despite lingering concerns about economic instability and the rising cost of living. A recent survey conducted in January 2025 among 300 young adults aged 20-29 in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi reveals that 53% of respondents expressed confidence in their financial outlook, while only 17% felt pessimistic. This overall positive sentiment reflects Vietnam’s strong economic resilience and continued growth in key sectors.
The survey highlights that optimism among Vietnamese consumers is fueled by expectations of financial growth and an improved quality of life. A significant 81% of respondents anticipate higher income levels in 2025, demonstrating confidence in career progression and wage increases. Additionally, 63% expect improved healthcare, while 59% foresee better job opportunities. Other notable expectations include a more stable economy (54%), technological advancements (45%), and environmental improvements (38%), reflecting Vietnam’s ongoing digital transformation and infrastructure development.
Despite the overall optimism, Vietnamese consumers remain cautious about economic challenges. The rising cost of living is the biggest concern, cited by 70% of respondents. Furthermore, 64% of respondents are concerned about economic instability, highlighting the risks associated with global uncertainties, trade fluctuations, and foreign investment trends. Health and well-being concerns rank third at 50%, emphasizing the importance of accessible and affordable healthcare services. Other concerns include environmental issues (47%), technology and privacy risks (36%), and political uncertainty (33%).
Vietnam’s strong economy fosters optimism, but economic and social policies must address inflation, healthcare, and job security. As Vietnam navigates 2025, both businesses and policymakers must pay close attention to these consumer sentiments. Understanding and addressing these expectations and concerns will be essential in shaping a more stable and prosperous future for young Vietnamese professionals.
